Lyrics

Kawa no mizu o sosogimasu
Yatto dekita kono utsuwa ni
Afurete odoru hikaru mizushibuki
Marude yorokonderu mitai

I pour river water
into this vessel I made at last
The overflowing splashes glisten and dance
as if they're pleased

Mayoi nayamu sugita hibi
Tsuchi to rokuro dake o miteta
Hanarenakereba mienai kotae ni
Zutto kizukazu ni ita kara

Those days I'd spent hesitating and worrying
All I could see is the clay and the potter's wheel
I cannot see the answer unless I leave
It's because I hadn't noticed it for a long time

Kiri no naka samayotte
Tarinai nanika o daiji na nanika o
Sagashite mukuchi na mama sasurau watashi ni
Deaeta hoka no sekai
Kitto tsubasa o kureta no

Wandering in the fog,
I roam quietly, searching for
something missing and something important
until I encountered the other world
and surely, it gave me wings

Sore wa kono yo ni hitotsu
Kotoba ni wa naranai jibun no akashi
Hanayaka janai ibitsu dakeredo
Omoi o tojikometa
Kono ryoute de tada

It's the one thing in this world
that I can't put into words, a testament of myself
Though it's pretty plain and distorted
I locked my thoughts away
with just these two hands

Kurukuru to nagareruru kisetsu o omou
Haru natsu aki fuyu umareru negai o mawashite
Ruru to nagareruru tsukihi o omou
Yurameku kawamo ni ukabu hoshikuzu to sukuiageteta
Hitamukisa o tsuchi ni komete

Thinking of the winding seasons as they flow by
Spring, summer, autumn, and winter revolve their newborn wish
Thinking of the continuous passage of time as they flow by
I scooped up some stardust floating in the swaying river surface
Putting my earnestness into the clay

Ima wa chigau basho de miteru hikari
Koko ni mo aru to shitta no
Atarashii yume ni yume ni
Oshierarete

Now I can see the light in a different place
I knew it would be here, too
Taught to me, to me
by that new dream

Nayamu hibi ga nakattara
Ima no watashi wa inai hazu
Akogarete ita betsu no SUTEEJI e to
Kurushisa ga michibiitai kara

If I didn't spend those days worrying
I wouldn't be where I am now
I head to another stage I've been longing for
Because I want my pain to guide me

Egaite ita yume IMEEJI
Tooku e futo tobeba
Michi ga soko ni aa

I drew the dream I'd imagined
If I happened to fly far away
The path would be right there, ah

Itsuka watashi no naka de
Hikari hajimete ita hoshi no hanatou
Mada tsutanaku bukiyou dakedo
Kono jibun no iro wa
Daichi no okurimono

Someday, the stars that were beginning to shine
inside of me unleash
Though I'm still inexperienced and unpolished
The color of myself
is the earth's gift

Kurukuru to nagareruru kisetsu no naka de
Hanasaku toki e to yumemita jibun oikakete
Ruru to nagareruru tsukihi no naka de
Omoi o tsutaete yukou
Kaze no you ni tori no you ni seseragi no hibiki no you ni

In the winding seasons as they flow by
I chased after myself dreaming of the time to bloom
In the continuous passage of time as they flow by
Let me convey my thoughts
Like the wind, like the bird, like the sound of the brooklet

Zutto zutto zutto zutto
Daichi no uta o kaze wa utau
Yama o koete sora o koete
Inochi no uta o tori wa utatte

Forever, forever, forever, forever
The wind sings the song of the earth
Beyond the mountains, beyond the skies
The bird sings the song of life

Zutto zutto zutto zutto
Hatenai uta o kawa wa utau
Yama o koete sora o koete
Watashi no uta o minna ni todoketai

Forever, forever, forever, forever
The river sings the endless song
Beyond the mountains, beyond the skies
I want my song to reach everyone

Dare mo sono tamashii ni aru
Tatta hitotsu no utsuwa
Yume o irete oku no naraba
Migakou
Kagayaku tame ni

That soul lies within someone
It's a single vessel
If I can keep my dreams alive
I'll polish it
in order to shine

Kurukuru to nagareruru kisetsu o omou
Haru natsu aki fuyu umareru negai o mawashite
Ruru to nagareruru tsukihi o omou
Yurameku kawamo ni ukabu hoshikuzu to sukuiageteta
Hitamukisa o tsuchi ni komete

Thinking of the winding seasons as they flow by
Spring, summer, autumn, and winter revolve their newborn wish
Thinking of the continuous passage of time as they flow by
I scooped up some stardust floating in the swaying river surface
Putting my earnestness into the clay

Nagareruru tsukihi no naka de
Omoi o tsutaete yukou
Kaze no you ni tori no you ni seseragi no hibiki no you ni

In the passage of time as they flow by
Let me convey my thoughts
Like the wind, like the bird, like the sound of the brooklet

Tooki kakegaenai hito ni
Soshite tomo to anata ni
Haruka na dareka e to utau asu mo
Hoshi o daite

To the person who's distant and irreplaceable
And to my friends and you
I'll sing to someone far away tomorrow
and embrace the stars

Trivia

  • The title arakane (粗金) literally means ore. But in Japanese waka poetry, it is an epithet (makura-kotoba) for "soil". It's forged with a hammer (鎚/tsuchi), a pun on soil (土/tsuchi). This word suggests both "earthen" and "unrefined". See also references.
