"Im Maita Rui, Call me Michael! Ah, you're a Producer? Nice to meet you! Lets work hard☆"
Character Description and Personality
Rui is an upbeat, quirky, and cheerful type of guy. His job was previously an English teacher, which is why he often uses English words in his speech. He also represents the "E" for English in S.E.M. With his English proficiency, he hopes to get worldwide attention and become an international idol. He always had interest in idols. He loves being an English teacher, but thought that not wanting to amount to anything more would be a waste. According to him, the idol life is way more exciting and fitting for him, and having such a big dream is a wonderful thing. Being close friends with Hokuto throughout college and watching him preform at his school’s cultural festival really sparks his motivation. When Michio invites him to join in becoming an idol, he quickly accepts. During S.E.M’s rough start on becoming an idol, Rui stays positive and tries to get the others too as well.
Rui is a fan of kendama, skiing, snowboarding, surfing, and cute things. He likes to get the others involved with his playful manners, but it usually doesn’t end well. During the “Fresh Strawberries Live” Event, Rui purchase strawberry headbands for Michio, Jiro, and Producer because that supposedly make them look like strawberries. While Michio isn’t sure if the style fits him, Jiro claims that he is too old for it. Since their personalities are on opposite ends, Michio has a hard time understanding why and how Rui acts the way he does. He believes he may even be some type of extraterrestrial life form.
