Spam Bots

Hello. There's a bunch of spam bots creating pages on this wiki. I don't know where they came from, but I already marked them for spam. Thanks and have a good day. -- ChocoCats (talk) 21:44, 13 February 2016 (CET)

Thanks, ChocoCats. I managed to mass delete everything. I locked account creation for now since I'm currently traveling, but I'll re-enable it in a couple days. -- Yunabeco [webmaster] (talk) 09:05, 14 February 2016 (CET)

No problem :) -- ChocoCats (talk) 20:52, 14 February 2016 (CET)

me to me

So today, I discovered that when I was listening to video like this one: , It is in fact not Hibiki and Takane it is two other virtual idols just with the same CVs as Hibiki and Takane called "me to me". Hibiki is Mika and Takane is Miyabi. They are drawn by Annin and their first original song is written by yura. So does this count as an iM@S topic and can we open a page on them? Ok, let me know what you think. AceYuki (talk) 04:48, 8 June 2015 (CEST) User:AceYuki

Also, Ryuuguu Komachi + Ritsuko is inside the booklet of their first CD...should we add to the appearances in other video games page? Allthough, its not a VG...dunno let me know what ya think. AceYuki (talk) 20:25, 15 June 2015 (CEST)

Neither are necessary, since they're outside characters AFAIK, but I suppose a line can be added to the relevant pages of the voice actors. As for the Ryuugu Komachi pictures, yeah, it doesn't seem to be a video game so it unfortunately won't fit -- then again, there are plenty of places on the Internet to post iM@S art.

I'm not even sure how to classify me to me. The most information I can find on it is on the me to me Niconicopedia page, and the video and characters shown obviously use Annin Doufu's designs and iM@S's engine, so I still have a hard time saying it's not iM@S-related, but then, according to producer Umeda (quoted on the Niconicopedia page above), it has no relationship whatsoever with iM@S. -- Yunabeco [webmaster] (talk) 14:09, 20 September 2015 (CEST)

Well, I'll add the me to me info to the CV pages when I get around to it, thanks for the quick response too Yunabeco! --AceYuki (talk) 18:12, 20 September 2015 (CEST)

Ami/Mami Split

So, now that Ami and Mami are technically not just a swap of the hair positions and even though they where actually separate characters from the start) I think we should finally split the pages. I find it difficult to enter information sometimes since they both have the same page...Your thoughts please...User:AceYuki 22:02, 17 September 2014 (CEST)

True enough, if they're starting to separate, then two pages make sense. -- Yunabeco [webmaster] (talk) 22:09, 17 September 2014 (CEST)

Okay, I'll get started on that then. Maybe I'll post on the job board and other can help too. User:AceYuki AceYuki (talk) 21:25, 18 September 2014 (CEST)

Picture Deletion

Could you grant me access to delete files? I uploaded the right picture under the wrong name. If you do not want to grant me access to delete files can you please delete File:Shiki.jpg. Thank You. --Itoshimi

File deleted. -- Yunabeco [webmaster] (talk) 07:16, 15 September 2014 (CEST)

Pictures Question

I was wondering if you are planning on adding the rest of the transparent images and or the frame-less ones. I found a tumbler page with all the cards on it so I was wondering if I could start uploading those as well as the other cards that aren't one here yet. Thanks. --Winterbells1 (talk) 01:36, 26 August 2014 (CEST)

(My two cents; it seems like kind of a pain to do it since Cinderella Girls has SO many images at this point.) Sakuya (talk) 01:46, 26 August 2014 (CEST)

Which transparents? The ones of the idol only? I could see doing those for the Cinderella Girls page and the individual pages, but only of their first card and with the default expression. Also, I agree with Sakuya about the frameless. Even the transparents sound like a nightmare to do. --Chance4U (talk) 01:51, 26 August 2014 (CEST)

It's not planned at the moment, but as Sakuya wrote, putting every Cinderella Girls sprite under the sun sounds like a royal pain.
Uploading the files can be easily automated if you have them (I could install facilities found on mediawikiwiki:Category:Bulk upload, for instance), but then you'd have to edit all relevant pages to put galleries, images or whatnot.
Other tools like the CGDex on this very domain already contain framed and frameless CG cards that could make life easier, but I don't think it includes sprites outside of cards. -- Yunabeco [webmaster] (talk) 12:18, 27 August 2014 (CEST)

I can't access the forum...

Hello, this is liza94(user of the Project-Imas forum). The problem is, I can't access the forum since December. It shows me "An Error Has Occurred! Sorry liza94, you are banned from using this forum! Spam global ban This ban is not set to expire." When I try to access the forum from the other computer as a guest, it shows the same thing! Help me, please...!

Got it fixed. We had a rush of Russian spam bots back in August, so I put a blanket ban on there. Didn't actually think we had members logging from there, sorry. You should be able to log in now. -- Yunabeco [webmaster] (talk) 23:17, 12 January 2014 (CET)

User: ‎Sotosbros

There is this user who keeps editing wrong information on the OFA DLC page and we asked that user where he got said information. That user won't cooperate and keeps on trolling the page. I would like you to do something about it. Sorry for the inconvenience.--ChocoCats (talk) 06:55, 27 July 2014 (CEST)

Thanks for the report, the page is being set as protected for now. Details and discussion will be on Talk:THE iDOLM@STER ONE FOR ALL DLC. Thank you for your cooperation! -- Yunabeco [webmaster] (talk) 21:59, 27 July 2014 (CEST)

About this wiki

  1. Mediawiki have MANY NAMESPACES. HELP namespace is used to place help content (so that the template for lyric table can be moved to THAT namespace), and PROJECT namespace (the prefix of that namespace is the same as the name of the wiki, for example Wikipedia: for Wikipedia, or wiki: for this wiki) is used to place project related contents (so "We Need YOU!!" fits into this namespace) and guidelines (so the romanization guideline fits into this too). HOWEVER I only see people use the main namespace and the template namespace. Maybe you should make use of other namespaces??
  2. My chrome extension tells me that this Mediawiki is outdated. Maybe... At least you should make {{FULLURL}} work....
  3. This wiki seems to use a totally different user database as the forum, but I've seen wikis which people need to have to have a forum account first, and use the forum account to login the wiki. Examples are Synthesia wiki and Osu! wiki. I wonder if it's a good idea to try to link the user database.
  4. the captcha is not strong enough, I'd say. There's a wiki that use really strong captchas that bots cannot really pass, and users should either know a lot about the wiki's topic, or just go read the wiki. An example of that captcha is, it shows an image, and asks which anime that character is from. Although it's easily solved with google.

user670839245 (talk | contribs | Block (log)) 11:53, 30 July 2014 (CEST)

  1. True enough, we should use different namespaces. I'll see whatever I can move.
  2. Entirely correct. The MW mailing list regularly reminds me of that. A new version is coming out tonight, so I'll upgrade then.
  3. The wiki is completely detached from the forum (two different databases), and would require a migration to make things work together. Linking both might be a good idea, but I personally like to keep things split. Separation of concerns and whatnot. Sure enough, unfortunately, that means registering for two different accounts; then again, some people might not want to create a forum account to get a wiki account or vice-versa.
  4. Last time I tried to upgrade registration security I got stalled because Shared Hosting Sucks™. Spambot waves mostly stopped since then. The captcha style you described is already used on the forum though, and didn't seem to create problems (bots don't know Chihaya's bust size), so I'll see what I can do to put it in place.

Thanks for your comments.

3 more quick things (before I go to bed)

1. Do people get to skip captcha after a certain # of edits (wiki) or posts (forum)? or do I have to enter a captcha for every single edit/post? If I get to skip that, how many edits/posts do I need? (It really sucks when I want to massively edit, say wiping out double redirects or replace rubbishy and complicated code with templates. Anyway I don't get much chance to edit after a few days. Actually not much chance to use the Internet.)

2.People don't seem to make use of TEMPLATES. People copy pasta paste complicated code with errors, but they don't just make a template and use it.

3.The main page needs a cleanup. Maybe move the things to other pages (say, list of games, list of CDs, list of characters and CVs), then leave a few big and clear buttons or image with links to link to those pages - that makes the main page at least cleaner. Maybe add a news section for game news and site news?

user670839245 (talk | contribs | Block (log)) 01:02, 2 August 2014 (CEST)

  1. Good call, I forgot to remove it from autoconfirmed users. This should be fixed. Captcha will no longer be required when you reach this status (see MW:Autoconfirmed users; here, at least 3 edits and 3 days old). Both requirements are fulfilled by yours, so you shouldn't have to confirm your edits anymore.
  2. I'm well aware we can make this more DRY. If you see elements that could be templated, don't hesitate to notify me.
  3. Agreed on all points.

Thanks for your comments.

and forum captchas? how many posts to skip??user670839245 (talk | contribs | Block (log)) 12:45, 2 August 2014 (CEST)
Currently at 5. Same for PMs. -- Yunabeco [webmaster] (talk) 12:51, 2 August 2014 (CEST)

Wiki Improvement Project xD

Couple of ideas I wanted to run by you and get your opinion on these things....
  • Game Walkthoughs: On a couple of other game wiki's I have worked on they had game walkthough, especially the Japanese games since people who dont speak the language may have had a hard time playing the game(s). We could divide people working on this to different game s and if needed sections of the game, If you hink this is possible.
  • User Groups/Projects: Also, on some other Wiki some users can "sign up" to different groups/projects to improve certain parts of the site.
  • Cards + Bot ?: We get alot of ML and CG card uploaded that don't get added to pages. We could create a seprate galley to add cards too, but I was think we could program a wiki bot to automaticlly upload cards to pages when they are tagged as a certain Idols card to avoid having to go digging for files to upload them to the correct pages.

Let me know what you think of these ideas! AceYuki AceYuki (talk) 16:54, 8 September 2014 (CEST)

  • Game walkthrough: Sure, if you wish. Not sure if the games are linear enough to warrant a walkthrough, or are already taken care of on other sites like Gamefaqs, but I guess at least a user guide could come in handy. Subpages (See mediawikiwiki:Help:Subpages) can help for this.
  • User Groups/Projects: As a user, you can already pretty much edit everything outside protected pages, regardless of your membership. Not sure how it would affect anything, besides putting a moniker on your user page telling you are part of whatever project. If you're editing meta-information like that, please do use the wiki namespace (eg. wiki:Administrators or wiki:We need YOU!).
  • Cards + Bot ?: That would require messing with page content somewhat unless a better solution is found; something similar was mentioned in the Pictures Question section earlier in this page. While the wiki is certainly a repository of information, I'm personally not sure if it is a great solution to welcome complete sets of images. The linked CGDex and the CGLog (same database) do this very well for CG, and I suspect other databases exist for ML. For instance, I can imagine an automatic link added to CG/ML character pages to see all of their cards on whatever site these databases are in, through templates or similar.
Maybe instead of Group Projects we can a "Job Board" or a "To-Do List" page only registered users that are logged in could view. It would show things that need/could be done on the wiki such as gathering information or images or creating templates? I could start something like that if you give me the ok, just cuz I like working on the wiki and i think having some way of communication as to how to expand the wiki! :) User:AceYuki AceYuki (talk) 15:54, 9 September 2014 (CEST)
I'm not sure I can easily limit read access to pages. I see you've made a board on a user sub-page, which is good for me. -- Yunabeco [webmaster] (talk) 07:16, 15 September 2014 (CEST)

Auto-confirmed Users

Hi, was the auto-confirmed users feature taken out recently? I've noticed I need to answer questions before submitting an edit again. Sakuya (talk) 19:40, 22 September 2014 (CEST)

There was no change in the system. Does it happen on all pages? -- Yunabeco [webmaster] (talk) 19:43, 22 September 2014 (CEST)

Yes, for me at least. Perhaps it's different for other users? Sakuya (talk) 19:44, 22 September 2014 (CEST)

I'll have another look at the configuration. You are correctly in the autoconfirmed group, so it might affect everybody. -- Yunabeco [webmaster] (talk) 19:47, 22 September 2014 (CEST)

Same here, too. -- ChocoCats (talk) 19:49, 22 September 2014 (CEST)

It seems to be fixed now! Thanks! Sakuya (talk) 20:10, 22 September 2014 (CEST)

Silly configuration error indeed. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for reporting. -- Yunabeco [webmaster] (talk) 20:23, 22 September 2014 (CEST)

User Creation

Hi, I noticed that there's a lot of users being created every day and they don't seem to do anything. Can you please do an ip check on them? Thank you. -- ChocoCats (talk) 02:58, 24 September 2014 (CEST)

Probably spambots and/or inactive users. In the case of spambots, they're not exactly a threat until they start contributing. Empty accounts are pruned every once in a while, so no worries. -- Yunabeco [webmaster] (talk) 07:05, 24 September 2014 (CEST)

Admins - Where are they now?

So I have noticed on our staff list we have 1 admin, User:Kaminos, who I'm sure is no longer active. I think the wiki would function better If there was more than one person, youself really being that person, governing the wiki which is steady growing and improving. There could be a couple and they could even be assigned certain jobs (ie. a more active user that spends more time on the wiki than others could monitor file/page creation and another could be in charge of monitoring translations, and then even certain people could be in charge of different types of pages like Songs or Characters or Xenoglossia). I think you need some higher ups ya know some right hand wo/men. Let me know what you think! -ThatCrazyWikiPersonAlwaysLookinToChangeSomethingxDUsertalk:AceYuki 23:49, 15 March 2015 (CET)

Thanks for the feedback. Kaminos is indeed no longer active here. That said, there is pretty much nothing preventing you to do those things you mentioned, and this is where wikis are wonderful! Sysops (wiki moderators) are only really needed when push comes to shove in case of vandalism, or to lock some pages.
I agree however that this wiki needs some direction, however I am completely unsure of where to find it; I can't spend as much time as I wish I could on wiki and forum considering I have a full-time job now.
If you, or anybody else really, are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and become the man in charge of sections or features, then by all means, propose yourself to the Wiki discussion board (since it's where most group decisions are taken). I'd be happy to see more people up here.

CSS Request

It's pretty troublesome and error-prone to maintain zebra-striped lyrics tables by hand. Could you enable the TemplateStyles extension or append the following piece of CSS to MediaWiki:Common.css?

.lyrics tr:nth-child(even) {
    background: #ddd;
.lyrics tr:nth-child(odd) {
    background: #ffd;
.lyrics tr.master:nth-child(even) {
    background: #fcc;
.lyrics tr.master:nth-child(odd) {
    background: #fdd;
.lyrics tr.short {
    background: #aaefa1;

Link tracking isn't working

It's stopped working for long time. So. for instance, "what links here" is useless, most of Special:LonelyPages aren't orphans, and there might be files labelled delete yet not displayed in Category:Pending deletion. Dough (talk) 04:20, 18 November 2018 (CET)

I have been banned. I can't access the forum, even as a guest :(

Hi, for some reason my IP address has been banned. I can't access the forum even as a guest.

This is the message I get every time I access the forum:

"Sorry Guest, you are banned from using this forum! Spam This ban is not set to expire."

My username in the forum is "EmperorLiuBei"

Should be fixed. Looks like I banned Cloudflare, which makes sense, until I remember we're also using Cloudflare now. Whoops. Sorry.

Thanks for the report. -- Yunabeco [webmaster] (talk) 14:45, 13 April 2019 (CEST)
